Are you passionate about animal welfare and looking for a unique role where you can make a real difference? The Home of Rest for Old Horses is seeking a dedicated General Manager to lead a much-loved sanctuary on the Isle of Man, providing exceptional care to retired and injured horses, ponies and donkeys while overseeing the operational management of this cherished organisation.

The Role

Join as General Manager and lead the daily operations of a renowned sanctuary, combining leadership, operational expertise, and a love for animals


  • Ensure the highest standards of care for all horses, ponies and donkeys, working closely with veterinary professionals

  • Oversee and develop the day-to-day running of the stables, cafe, gift shop and wider facilities

  • Manage and support a team of employees and volunteers, including planning rotas and conducting training

  • Take responsibility for operational finances, including expense management, preparing financial updates, and fundraising

  • Ensure compliance with regulations and provide regular reports to the Board of Directors

  • Promote the sanctuary through social media and community engagement



About You

You are a compassionate leader with exceptional organisational skills, ready to drive the success of this unique sanctuary


  • Proven experience in stable/yard management or animal care is desirable

  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire a team

  • Experience in retail or hospitality management is an advantage

  • Financial acumen and the ability to prepare budgets and forecasts

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

  • A passion for animal welfare and creating a positive impact
