A global trading and shipping corporation is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its expanding Douglas-based team. Working within a small Island-based team, you’ll be performing a variety of accounting functions on behalf of the entire group.

The Role…

In essence, you will assist the Financial Manager with the preparation and review of various financial schedules. This will include:

  • Assisting with monthly vessel close review process, including the monthly preparation of OPRs
  • VAT preparation for a number of locations, including Kenya, Korea and Monaco
  • Translation preparation
  • Monthly balance sheet and derivatives analysis review
  • Assist and coordinate team with the audit process, providing support for statutory filings
  • Ad hoc finance-related project support

About You…

Our client wants an experienced professional – ideally, you’ll have:

  • Significant accounting experience; any ‘big four’ audit experience would be a plus
  • Recognised accounting qualification (ACCA/ACA)
  • Knowledge of IOM tax, VAT and statutory reporting processes

A private shipping company, based in the south of the Island, is looking for a Personnel Officer to join its team of skilled professionals

The Role…

Reporting to the Crew Operations Manager, your duties will be varied, covering an array of responsibilities, including:

  • Responding to sea staff enquiries, ensuring your knowledge is up to date with current databases and systems
  • Minimising costs through effective planning and management of staff, communicating with customers and liaising with other teams
  • Assisting with ad hoc projects, such as ship deliveries and transitions, as and when required
  • Providing weekly relief plans to vessels and assisting in emergency exercises

About You…

You’ll be responsible for approximately 10-12,000 crew movements per year and, as such, you will need:

  • Previous experience in a similar role and within a similar industry
  • Understanding of STCW and how Flag States incorporate these standards into regulation
  • Excellent time management when identifying solutions and contingencies
  • Impeccable communication skills, able to manage multiple stakeholder relationships
  • Rostering or scheduling experience would be an advantage
  • Strong record-keeping skills with an analytical mind
