Victim Support Isle of Man is an independent charity, offering free and confidential help to victims and witnesses of crime, their family and friends. The charity is committed to supporting victims for a number of crimes, which can include burglary, sexual abuse and domestic violence. The charity is independent of both the Government and the Isle of Man Constabulary, although many clients are referred by the police. This is a pivotal time in the development of the charity.
We are looking to appoint a progressive and action focused Chairperson to lead the Board of the charity, with a remit to support and develop the charity's people, organisation and profile, in order to drive the charity forward.
We're seeking a dedicated individual with a passion for giving back to the community; a recognised people and business leader with strong communication and relationship management skills.
In addition to the provision of senior strategic leadership to the charity and Board, you will be comfortable in an ambassadorial capacity, as the public face of the charity in partnership with the charity Manager.
You will guide and support the charity, Board and people, including the highly trained volunteers who deliver services to the community, to work collaboratively to fulfil both mission and vision, clearly demonstrating:
Stakeholder relationship management
With 4 Board meetings per year and monthly committee meetings, ad-hoc or other meetings may be required to fulfil the role.
Additional time may be required during the first 6 months of appointment for integration and guidance.
Voluntary position: travel expenses reimbursed. 3 year term appointment; eligible for reappointment for one additional term.
This is a unique opportunity for an individual with the passion and drive to further increase the charity's profile and impact within the Isle of Man community.
