An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and experienced legal professional to join a global listed financial services group, as Deputy General Counsel. If you have a strong litigation background, a passion for regulatory compliance, and the ability to provide strategic legal advice, this role is for you

The Role

Supporting the General Counsel, you will play a key role in managing the company's legal affairs, focusing on litigation, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance


  • Lead and manage all litigation related to policyholder claims

  • Develop and execute litigation strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external counsel

  • Advise on regulatory requirements and industry developments affecting life assurance

  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations across multiple jurisdictions

  • Provide legal advice on corporate governance, contracts, and financial services matters

  • Draft and review key legal documents to protect company interests

  • Mentor and develop junior legal team members

  • Work cross-functionally with compliance, risk, finance, and operations teams



About You
We are looking for a highly skilled legal professional with strong expertise in litigation, regulatory compliance, and financial services
Below experiences/skills considered essential:

  • Qualified solicitor/barrister with a strong litigation background (UK, Isle of Man, or equivalent jurisdiction)

  • Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in litigation and dispute resolution

  • Experience in litigation and civil liability insurance, preferably within financial services or insurance sectors

  • Strong knowledge of life assurance regulations, insurance law, and financial services litigation

  • Ability to quickly comprehend complex legal and regulatory issues

  • Good negotiating skills

  • Excellent communication, organisational and presentation skills.

  • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload in a fast paced environment

  • Self-motivated with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels

  • Be able to work as part of a team as well as the ability to work independently

  • Competent in Microsoft applications: Including Word, Outlook, SharePoint and Excel
